On 29th May 2026, Camouflage Café in Thamesmead welcomed parents, carers, professionals and community members to a special SEND Information Session designed to provide support, guidance and connection for families navigating the world of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
As a community café in Thamesmead, we are passionate about creating opportunities for people to come together, share experiences and access valuable information that can make a real difference to their lives.
For many parents and carers, finding reliable SEND information, understanding available services, and connecting with other families can be challenging.
Our SEND Information Session provided a welcoming and relaxed environment where attendees could:
-
Learn about SEND services and support available in Greenwich and South East London
-
Meet other parents and carers facing similar challenges
-
Discuss Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
-
Access practical advice and guidance
-
Discover local community resources and activities
-
Build new friendships and support networks
The event encouraged open discussion and gave families the opportunity to ask questions, share experiences and gain valuable insights from others within the SEND community.
At Camouflage Café, we understand that support for families extends far beyond schools and formal services.
Many parents and carers tell us that one of their biggest challenges is feeling isolated or unsure where to turn for advice. By hosting community events, coffee mornings and SEND-focused sessions, we aim to create a safe and inclusive space where people feel welcome, supported and understood.
Whether you are a parent of a child with autism, learning disabilities, ADHD, communication difficulties or other additional needs, having access to a supportive community can make a significant difference.

Research consistently shows that peer support and community connections improve wellbeing for both carers and families.
Events such as our SEND Information Sessions help families:
-
Feel less isolated
-
Share practical advice
-
Build confidence
-
Access local support services
-
Strengthen community connections
